In the nineteenth-century South China Sea, smuggler Captain Thomas Mercer is captured by pirate warlord Wei after claiming his opium cargo sank with his ship. Bound to a magistrate’s chair and pressed to reveal the truth, Thomas holds his nerve while his battered crew risks everything to rescue him. But the cargo is still intact, and a marked chart points toward a hidden anchorage behind the last island—where armed enemies and a dangerous reckoning await.
Episode 4: After a dockside chase, Thomas’s crew captures a wounded thief who reveals chests in the hold. With guards hunting thieves, Thomas rejects a nighttime break-in and plans to return in broad daylight as a buyer.
