In the nineteenth-century South China Sea, smuggler Captain Thomas Mercer is captured by pirate warlord Wei after claiming his opium cargo sank with his ship. Bound to a magistrate’s chair and pressed to reveal the truth, Thomas holds his nerve while his battered crew risks everything to rescue him. But the cargo is still intact, and a marked chart points toward a hidden anchorage behind the last island—where armed enemies and a dangerous reckoning await.
Episode 1: Pirate warlord Wei threatens to drown Thomas Mercer in the magistrate’s chair unless he reveals where the opium is, but Thomas refuses. When foreign guns appear, a frantic ship turn and orders to sink the other ship pull the interrogation into a desperate fight at sea.
